Dr. Gajanan Rodge removed magnet from a 4-year-old child’s intestine after seven days of ingestion. A 4-year-old baby had ingested a strong magnet while playing with toys around 7 days back. The magnet was stuck at the junction of the large and small intestine. Dr Gajanan and his team at Bombay Hospital very carefully reached the magnet by colonoscopy and safely removed it with the help of a basket. The child was saved from a major surgery due to this endoscopic removal. The child’s mother bursted into tears after seeing the magnet out of the body.
Happy to share that we performed Cholangioscopy (endoscopy within the bile duct) at Bombay Hospital for the first time. 50-year-old male presented with pain abdomen, fever, deranged LFTs, raised CA 19-9. MRCP / CT was suggestive of ? Cholangiocarcinoma. Cholangioscopy showed irregular mucosa, nodularity and neovascularisation for which we took spybite biopsy (biopsy through cholangioscopy). #The_Forgotten_Stent 50 year old female presented to OPD in Bombay Hospital with complaints of pain abdomen for 2 months. She had undergone CBD stenting and cholecystectomy in 2015. However, she forgot about the stent and was not aware that the stent needed to be removed. After confirming the stent was in CBD we did ERCP and gently removed the stent. However part of the stent still remained in the CBD and was removed by balloon sweep. The Challenge here was that since the stent was in the CBD for more than 8 years it had got stuck with very fragile body of the stent.
